Sorry if I missed it, but just thought I'd let y'all know LSU offered A&M commit Christian Lacouture according to his Facebook.
He's visiting A&M on the 18th for a junior day

Surprised y'all offered. 1) he's not leaving A&M (his family moved there for him). 2) he really doesn't seem that good.
Then again, I'm not in a position to question LSU offers on DL.

LSU signed only 1 defensive lineman and it happened to be a DE from TX. I'm also pretty sure the coaching staff is a bit shell-shocked from the departure of 3 of the top talents in LA and a NSD defection and a recruit who cost us 2 commitments(Kiel). One of the few positives from this last signing class is that the state of TX had been kind to LSU. The staff is probably making their contingency plans early to avoid sign day disappointment.

Agree to a point. They are just working harder, earlier to identify kids they like. I don't think they're focusing on contingency plans a year from signing day but think they realize the need for DL in this class and are looking to set the base members of the class and then fight the big boys for the studs. Lacouture is a DT for us and some talent but I don't know enough to call it. I also have agreed with the Aggie thought that he is solid to TAM but some info is coming out that he isn't quite as solid as people think. May be a case of TAM telling him to look around because of the new staff or could just be he isn't done yet. Who knows for sure besides the kid and his family.

The heat is on and the staff can feel it. I want to see our recruiters on the offensive rather than just playing defense and hope no one slips through the cracks. Urban Meyer is doing this at Ohio State and the other Big Ten coaches are shitting their pants as if they have never seen real recruiting before. I believe Wisconsin and Mich State are trying to get the commissioner to investigate Meyer's staff because they stole their commitments. What a bunch of pansies.

Agree again. Also that's why the Big Ten can't compete on a regular basis with SEC schools. The sooner they realize recruiting and college football in general is a cutthroat business, the sooner they'll be more competitive. Their pressing of academia over football shows the difference in priorities. Not a fault because academics are important but they have to choose one or the other to stress and in football terms they chose the wrong side. If they think college football and recruiting is all sportsmanship, ethics and academics then they have anwsered their own question as to why they can't compete.

I would take my $$$$ NFL degree any day over the general studies degree. My banker and financial advisers both agree.
