Does Coach O and him have a really good relationship? Not really sure how frequent communication can continue with coach O in charge now.
With texas all but assured a coaching change. Does Coach O getting the job really help us with this guy? I really believe unless we get Jimbo or Keep Coach O that is the only two scenario's where we keep all the guys now and finish with some of the top guys left on board. Not sure who else has recruiting ties Down in southeast besides the guys i mentioned.

I agree the d-line and o-line are where the game is won. Would love to keep current recruits and add wilson and a few more LB recruits. Scares me to think losing Coach O and raymond on the recruiting trail and scares me more thinking about losing them to someone in our conference.

As D-Line Coach, O would have certainly been on his recruitment, for quite some time. I would think that Coach O would have a good relationship with him, how else would we be fighting with TEXAS for his commitment?

Hopefully seeing how much we rotate and our young studs have been on the field a lot has to help.

Isn't our DLine coach Pete f*ckin Jenkins? I'd say any DLineman we are pursuing will have to think long and hard not to be coached by him even if he is only here a few years. The man is universally thought of as the best Defensive Line coach ever.

He's 17. He probably doesn't even know who Pete Jenkins is.

When veteran football coach Pete Jenkins speaks, people stop and listen. He’s got the proverbial skins on the wall in the coaching profession.

quote:

Jenkins coached the Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive line for four seasons, and he still spends time consulting for the L.A. Rams and New York Giants during offseason work and training camp.

quote:

Jenkins has earned the equivalency of a PhD in the coaching ranks. He is still in great demand. “I’ll be working with the defense during spring ball at USC. (Head coach) Clay Helton hired me. I’ll be there for a month in the spring and a month during the summer. My son is in L.A. We’ll get to stay there and visit. I will help the coaching staff.” Jenkins is fiercely loyal to Nick Saban since he hired him at LSU in 2000. “(Saban) has me (at Alabama) twice a year to help. I love Nick Saban. I’m close with him and very grateful to him.”

quote:

The past 10 weeks for Jenkins were spent driving home fundamentals for 25 defensive linemen, eight from the NFL plus 17 draft eligible collegians. Some of the attendees are on the New Orleans Saints radar for the 2016 NFL draft including Alabama’s A’Shawn Robinson and Jarran Reed along with Louisiana Tech’s Vernon Butler.

He consulted for two NFL teams, USC, Alabama and a couple dozen NFL/NFL bound DLinemen

If they haven't heard of him they will.

He won't be here after this season.

That's assuming O doesn't get the head coaching job. They asked Orgeron how long does he expect Jenkins to be here and he said as long as he's coach he'll be here coaching DLine. So if we hire somebody else besides O, then you'd more than likely be correct.

He won't be the main one coaching the dline next year if he stays. He w I uld be more like a consultant like Saban has on his staff. When hired the way I read it, it seemed like he was enjoying the retirement life and doing this more as a temporary favor.
