I will add the fact that he rescheduled his visit after cancelling during the season seems very encouraging. This usually doesn't happen with recruits this highly ranked. Everyone remembers him stating that Ok was his favorite after they blew out Texas, and now they've been eliminated. So he's not staying close to home no matter where he ends up. LSU probably gets his last visit on Jan 20th which is obviously a really big weekend for us.

has he commented on a move to DT?

I want to be optimistic, I really do.
But until he actually visits this campus, I refuse to get my hopes up, or even consider him anything but a pipe dream.
But I sure would love for that pipe dream to become a reality!

The only comment I can remember right now is him saying that FSU coaches told him it didn't matter if he was 300 lbs, as long as he kept his speed he could stay at end and he appreciated how cool they were about it. That makes it sound like he'd rather remain outside on the next level, but I can't say for sure. Playing time is usually the primary incentive once these guys hit campus regardless of where they're asked to play. But the way Chavis moves his d-line around would make Mario a perfect fit in this class because he's more of a hybrid, while Davis and Hunter are strictly edge rushers.

I'm with ya RAT. Anything can happen in the next few weeks. Our coaches need make sure that visit happens. But Tx is going to be EXTREMELY tough to beat in this one, as they are with any prospect they want bad enough. I think this is why previous threads on MEJ end up getting anchored, but that's just my opinion

Here is a Mario interview

Really good stuff in the video I posted. He confirms he is visiting FSU on the 14 and LSU on the 20.
His face lit up when talking about LSU defense.
Come on down Mario.

Now do you see why I feel like I do about him?

I'd love getting this guy... Hell, I'll drive down to LSU today.

If OU is out then LSU is in. He is going to be a Tiger! Book it!

This is just me but there is no need for him to move inside to DT, at 290 he still has amazing speed and burst off the line and could be a 3 down DE which is something we have had in awhile as a complete package, Sonic Sam is amazing and I really love what he does but he is more of a pass rusher than a run stopper and Mario looks like he can do it all.

He looks like a DT in our system IMO. He is almost 60 pounds heavier than Montgomery right now. But he shouldn't be upset by that. The NFL is starting to put DTs on as high of a pedestal as DEs. And we have a history of fast penetrating DTs at LSU. He would be a beast alongside Ego and Freak.

If this really is his senior highlights at around 285+, he can play anywhere on the line that he wants.
AMAZING combination of speed, strength and agility. You have an end like that and it forces a lot of outside runs back inside and quickly closes a pocket on a QB.
Definitely don't like Rivals comparison of Shaun Ellis. Ellis never had the speed and athleticism that Edwards had. I can't really pinpoint who he reminds me of

If it weren't for standardized testing we'd be in the lead I believe. He seems big on atmosphere and if he would've made it for the Auburn weekend I think LSU would be sitting really pretty. Hopefully there will be some crystal he can see on his visit, that should be a huge selling point.

Jesus Christ, Denton's whole front four look like massive freaks.

Is all of this information just LSU fans opinions after listening to his interviews, or do recruiting insiders really believe we have a chance at getting this kid? I'm not flaming, its a serious question. The way we are coming on strong in the end is very similar to the Gunner Kiel situation, which we all know ended very well. If he follows through with his visit, what does every one put the odds of getting him at? TIA.
