For those that can scout QB talent: D1 QB or not?

Trying to settle a disagreement between me and a buddy. I don't want to pollute anyone's first impressions by posting too much history about this QB or his stats ...
Kerrville Tivy High School QB, #3
D1 QB or not?
Thanks in advance for any observations.

based on the one game, i do not see him as a BCS quarterback
not the strongest arm, fairly quick release, not as accurate as you would want, quick to give up on pass and scramble
he might be able to work at a non-qualifier school in the right system, but i lean towards no (from that one video)

he has a few other videos on YouTube.
He may not be a Div 1 QB.....I think his WR's really help out. They seem to save his butt with some nice catches under pressure. His accuracy is ok, arm strength is a bit lacking.
However, he might do ok as an ATH. He's quick, catches fairly well. Has good balance, vision, and runs pretty well. Might make a decent WR or SS?

We talked about him towards the end of the season on our show. I believe he is going to be very good and some recruiting analysts we talked to agree with me. Doesn't mean he will be but that's my opinion.

He's got D-1 QB size at 6-1, & almost 200 lbs. It's not ideal height/wt but it certainly is D-1 level.
The arm strength doesn't pop out like it should for elite 4 & 5 star D-1 recruits, but I've seen guys with worse strength get scholarships at D-1 schools.
He looks like a 4.5 speed QB prospect. That alone could garner him a D-1 scholarship. Hell, some BCS schools would take a 6-1, 200, 4.5 speed athlete and make him a LB.
D-1 QB? Definitely.
BCS team scholly? Possible, but probably as a backup/"project" in the right system, but could get on the field faster if he's willing to switch positions.

He reminds me of the QB who played for my team (speed wise) but with a better arm.

I personally think he is going to end up playing slot receiver for the Aggies. But it is kind of hard to argue with the stats he put up:
2010 (Senior):
Rushing: 1,674 Rushing Yards
30 Rushing Touchdowns
Passing: 3,609 Passing Yards
45 Passing Touchdowns
5 Interceptions
These stats are more than most players achieve in a high school career, and he did it playing usually half of each game. He only played 4 complete games his senior year.

i want to see one play where he stands in the pocket and throws a good ball. he is always on the run. He's not d-1 in my opinion.

I would go by Chip Kelly's evaluation of him over anyone on td.com.

In his defense, that game film was against one of the best teams in the state of Texas. Not to mention that his offensive line is average at best.

Reminds me of Nebraska's Taylor Martinez, though not quite as fast.

The current SAT Reasoning Test, introduced in 2005, takes three hours and forty-five minutes, and costs $47 ($75 International), excluding late fees.[2] Possible scores range from 600 to 2400, combining test results from three 800-point sections (Mathematics, Critical Reading, and Writing).
damn.....i did not know this

You can take the non writing one which is scored out of 1600. I have not taken my real SAT yet since I have focused on my ACT but on my practice SAT's I score between 1900 to 2100. I am considered above average. So in retrospect a 1550 is about average. So in other words he should have no problem qualifying.

He looks good on film but it's hard to tell about the talent on the field with him...Both schools are in independent school districts. I will say that there was a whole lot of white boys on the field. Don't know if that's indicative of the talent or not.

That team he is playing against is Lake Travis. They are one of the best programs in the state.
