He's a combine hero. Still worth a look and his performance was damn impressive. Texas hasn't offered either and nor has Bama so that should tell you something. OSU has a great tradition at LB but Meyer falls in love with speed so it makes sense for him to be on Mitchell. I think if FSU gives him a committable they could steal him. Muschamp had him in the bag and never pulled the trigger to take him. Something is missing with Mitchell.
Mitchell has good film so he is more than just a combine hero. Texas wanted him to play DE and he wanted to play LB that is the only reason why Texas did not offer. He also hasn't gone out to a lot of camps which has led to the limits of offers. OU and TX both wanted him to come out to camps but he declined various requests. This also played a large role in the local offers. This may have also been the case for LSU as well.
The only concern about him is the possibility that he may grow out of the LB position. Some have wondered whether he could play LB with greater size in coverage. However, he showed at the combine that he can run and has a good shuttle so that shouldn't be a problem.
It is also worth noting that GP is very high on him as he was one of GP's first offers. GP knows a thing or two about quality LBs too as he has sent as many to the pros lately as just about anyone. Basically, Mitchell can flat out play. Unfortunately, it looks like it will be at Ohio State rather than TCU.

Texas wanted him as a DE and he wants to play LB. Neither side was willing to waiver on this. Big reason why they never offered.
