Cocoa (Fla.) High School signal caller Brady Hart trains with renowned quarterback coach Baylin Trujillo. Trujillo discussed what he sees in Hart, who is focusing this offseason on honing his craft
"I call Brady the freak. This kid, he's about 6-5 and he's about 190 to 192 pounds. He's gained some solid weight in the offseason. He flipped his body too. He was 165 to 170 pounds soaking wet last year winning a state title, getting beat up every game
”The physical tools are exciting, and Hart’s physical development is starting to catch up to those tools. Add in the fact that the Florida standout is also being tutored by several outstanding football minds, and you have an exciting combination of upside to work with. "The kid has everything,” Trujillo explained. "He can run, he can throw, he's smart. He's getting taught under a head coach that was a high-level quarterback at UCF in Coach (Ryan) Schneider. Coach (Adam) Franco has been there a long time as an offensive coordinator, so he's learning the game, and he picks things up very fast. He processes things very fast. Brady is learning it now, and he's retaining it and processing it.
"We talk about the ceiling,” he continued. "Brady hasn't even come close to his ceiling, so that's what excites me about Brady. He was actually a defensive player growing up, he loved hitting people. He was a linebacker and defensive end. He played defense in youth football and he just wanted to hit people. So when you see his tape now and the punishment that he took last year and was able to stay in the pocket, especially against St.Thomas Aquinas, it is special. He threw 500 yards and five touchdowns against them. Should have beaten them, and should have had a controversial finish
.”On the brightest stages, Hart has shown his best. After that game against St. Thomas Aquinas in particular, you are left wondering just how good he can be. Everything is there for him to be special. "That was a game where you're like, how is this kid able to just stand there and take this punishment?” he said. "He used to be the one delivering it. That kid is just special. He's a freak of nature because he can run with his 6'5 frame. He understands his body and his ball is flawless.”
According to Trujillo, the talent was always there. As a young kid, it was his job to push Hart to his limits. From that early failure, he has come out on the other side and excelled. "He started coming to me in his eighth grade year as well,” Trujillo explained. "His dad said he has a passion for the quarterback position, so he handed the keys over to me. Within the first month or two, I broke him down so hard. I'll never forget, we were in Lake Nona and he looked at me and I saw that his dad was in the car. He couldn’t watch this anymore and dad walked off. He went into his car and Brady looked at me and I looked him straight in the face. I said, ‘Brady, the day you take this dang game seriously is the day you'll be the best quarterback in the country. But until then, you're going to still look like this.
I'll never forget, he looked at me and it was almost like he was about to cry,” Trujillo added. "From that moment, it was like something just clicked in him. Ever since then, he's been one of the hardest-working kids I've ever met. He takes it seriously. He's obviously now top five in the country, Top 10 on 247Sports and Top 5 on Rivals. The kid is just an elite talent.”
Hart is considered a four-star recruit by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals. The latter has him ranked the highest, currently sitting as the No. 49 overall player and No. 4 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class. The 6-5 signal caller was sensational as a sophomore for the Cocoa Tigers. In 15 games, Hart threw for 3,759 yards and 41 touchdowns, while completing 66 percent of his passer. That is a per game average of 250.6 yards per game and just 11 interceptions thrown.
I seem to remember a former LSU QB that played LB growing up, liked to be hit occasionally, and could hang in pocket and take a lick and still crush your soul for a TD…

He's on our timeline for QB's. I'm interested to see how he progresses through camps this year and his high-school season.
He could potentially jump into the top echelon of QBs, and be in line to continue what is becoming an excellent lineage of QBs at LSU.

2 Heismans later and this still doesn't seem real to me.

This is the way I'd prefer qbs be evaluated but in this age of recruiting, if we wait until after his JR season to make a move he will be committed elsewhere. The '26 group is about to see major dominoes fall so patience isn't virtuous anymore. The Clemson offer for Hart likely sped up his timeline. If we want him we have to move now or move on. If Sloan isn't sure, I'd move on. We'll see how things sit after the visit.
