Is LSU in good shape to sign any of the top QB's in 2019?

Eventually, LSU will need to recruit, sign, and develop a freshman QB.

Is it in the 2019 class?

I mean theoretically you can keep signing transfers and never develop your own. Outsourcing QB development could be the next big trend.

Michael Johnson Jr.

Eugene (Ore.) Sheldon quarterback Michael Johnson ...

"I'll go from those seven to my commitment," said Johnson. "I'm going to look at those seven pretty hard and take my five officials and then decide. I want to decide by the end of next month."

"Penn State, NC State and LSU for sure and Miami will be getting an official," said Johnson. "Nebraska is going to get an unofficial from me this spring, but not an official. My sister (Taylor) goes to Nebraska and runs track there."

"There are still a couple of schools trying and talking to me," said Johnson. "Florida State came to see me and Texas A&M offered me like a day or two after my top seven. We'll see where it goes with those two schools."

Johnson said the schools he's closely looking at all present good opportunities for him.

"At LSU, Coach (Steve) Ensminger and Coach (Ed) Orgeron are recruiting me and I like them a lot," said Johnson. "I like the quarterback situation there. It's wide open, like Penn State. Coach (James) Franklin and Coach (Ricky) Rahne are recruiting me there and it's a good situation too. NC State has been really recruiting me hard and I talk a lot with Coach (Eliah) Drinkwitz. At Miami, it's both the Richt's recruiting me (head coach Mark Richt and quarterbacks coach Jon Richt). At Nebraska, Coach (Scott) Frost and Coach (Mario) Verduzco have been recruiting me and I'm really close with Adrian Martinez (the Huskers' 2018 quarterback signee), so we talk a lot about Nebraska and how he likes the school. At Arizona State, it's been Coach (Donnie) Yantis and Coach (Rob) Likens recruiting me."

Oregon, where his father Michael Johnson Sr., is on staff as the receivers coach, remains somewhat in the mix, though the Ducks picked up a quarterback commitment in Cale Millen earlier this month.

Johnson graduates in December and enrolls in January, so a decision before his senior season was important to him....
