After Katrina the National Guard gave me a case of MRE. I decided to try one after a few days and ended up sitting on my toilet in 95 degree heat and 100% humidity for almost 2 hours. I was prepped for a colonoscopy after eating that MRE. I burned the rest of the case. If the draft was still in place and I was of age, I would have to run to Canada just to avoid having to eat MRE on a battlefield somewhere. My arse still hurts thinking about it seven years later

I feel your pain on that one. I'm pretty sure MRE's are only 2% actual food. The rest is preservatives, chemicals, and cardboard.
