I’ve learned a few things over the years. I’ve always been one thst just assumed I could fix just about anything if I wanted. My parents tell the story about when I was 3 years old amd all of a sudden my mom realized I had gotten really quiet in my bedroom. She went to check on me and I had gotten a screwdriver and taken apart the bedside table. That was the earliest story of me doing “household work”.

A number of decades later I will share a lesson I learned. I (or you) can do most things around the house. And many of them are pretty simple and don’t take a lot of time. Take your time with them. There’s no reason to get in a hurry. And don’t let on how simple some things are (replacing the guts of a toilet- or the whole toilet for that matter- for example). Enjoy the appreciation that you get for doing those “hard” jobs that would cost at least $100 more to call someone to do. It will make your life better in the long run.
