I'm sure it "works" it holds water, you can add filtration and chemicals to it. My concern would be how hot it gets.

I have a 17,500 gallon above ground pool and in the heat of the summer it can still get over 90 degrees. I think a stock tank would be a bathtub most of the summer.

I been looking at doing a stock tank pool for about six minths as all we need is sowmyhing to sit in and cool off and 99% of people we know with full size pools paid over 55k and spend more time and money cleaning that using it.

So we bought a 8x8 academy ETEC pool and have been using that to see if we like a small pool. It works great to cool off in. We did out a canooy oved it because water did get warm but small oools are easy ti let water out and add new water to cool it off and the shade made a big difference. Water did not get hot.

Next thing is ti see if a trough can be coated with like truck bed liner or Rhino shield to protect the metal from water and ti deaden sound and add a nice cokor to water. Or some other spray in liner.

So fat we like idea that we can run pump off of standard outlet. Doht have to add a higher amp outlet and we can build a deck around it .
