My element went out a few months ago and I replaced it using a part I found on Amazon. I had never worked on a dryer in my life but after watching a youtube video, I saw how easy it was.
Bought the part, removed the back panel from the dryer and had the dryer working within 10 minutes. It was literally plug and play. Just make sure you unplug the dryer first.
A 10 minute repair saved me a couple hundred dollars.

If the heating element goes out and there is no continuity in the heating coils, examine it closely. You will find a break in the wire. Get pliers and twist it together at the break.
You will get it up and running until the new one comes in. I would not run to failure at this point, however. Change it out on your schedule.
