Can anyone help me out with a ballpark estimate to convert a hall closet into a half bath? I'm on beams and the previous owner claims there's plumbing directly below the closet.

Doing it yourself? 1,000 or less.

Contracting out, 5-10k.

This is assuming all utilities are directly under the hall closet. Which they likely aren't

Also, how big is this closet? I'm assuming you want a sink and small toilet. If they're on opposite walls, you can tie the drain for both together from underneath. Running pex to supply water is very simple. Also the existing plumbing beneath may not be up to code. Ran into this when I converted a full bath into a half bath and laundry room. There were existing drains for the sink, toilet, and tub. In order to tie into the tub drain for the washer drain, we had to put larger diameter pipe in. I forget what was there, but we already had a 4 inch for the toilet, so the plumber tied everything into there before going down to the main drain of the house.
