Looking for suggestions concerning Okame flowering cherry. Is it very mess? Suitable for south Louisiana?

Messy in what sense? It has leaves. They fall off in the fall. It has pink flowers. In the late winter/early spring it will look liked it snowed pink snow below the trees.

Messy as in, if it doesn't rain for 2 weeks in the summer will the leaves fall off and then resprout when it rains.
