Prove it other than minor recruiting violations. Plus look at your Minnesota team...The team has also had several instances of NCAA sanctions on the program that have affected performance and recruiting. In the 1970s, the Gophers were in a violent brawl with the Ohio State Buckeyes and were barred from post-season appearances for two seasons after an incident involving the illegal resale of tickets. Still more severe was the mid-1990s academic scandal under then-coach Clem Haskins that resulted in the forfeiture of a Final Four appearance.

the same number as LSU. What's your point?

LSU has a logo don't they?

yes. 3 of your 4 statements refer specifically to the last 20 years.

Okay then lets see here appearances in '75, '76, '77, '83, '84, '85, '86, '87, '88, '89, '90, '91, '98, '00, '07, '08. National Champion in '90 and Runner up in '91. Final Four appearances in '77, '87, '90, '91.

W T F ????

Seems like Minnesota is more interested in NIT invites than what really matters with only 8 NCAA tournament appearances 4 of which are unofficial due to fraud and 13 NIT invites.

I have laid down my case for UNLV and I think it is highway robbery not giving this world class program their due by atleast hooking up a brother with a logo. I have also previously included examples of possible logos.

Please tell me you aren't looking to get in an argument about which program has been the dirtiest
Richie "the Fixer" Perry, Lloyd Daniels, Lamar Odom, etc. I can think of at 2 times off the top of my head where UNLV has been put on probation in the last 20 years.

I will guarantee you that UNLV is not the dirtiest. That title goes to Michigan FWIW.

In 1998 the U.S. Supreme Court forced the NCAA to pay Tarkanian $2.5 million for violations stemming from its investigation of UNLV. They couldn't hardly find anything so they soiled his name, but he got the last laugh. If UNLV was so corrupted then Tark would have allowed Daniels to play on the team. However, Tark single handedly told him to GTFO.

At the end of the day, though, UNLV is nothing but a basketball school that became a blip on the radar with wildly excessive cheating. To even suggest that UNLV be put on the same level as Minnesota or Michigan or Yale in the realm of college sports history is absurd.

Please.
Facts:
- Attended 5 different high schools in 3 different states.
- Did not even graduate high school. He did however get his GED. Kudos to him.
- Steered to UNLV by Richard "the Fixer" Perry
The only reason Tark kicked him off is because of his televised arrest at a crack house. Kudos to Tark. Class act.

That is why the industry leader ESPN has called it the 8th most prestigious basketball program of all time right? That is a pretty big blip IMO. As I stated before there is only one real time when UNLV was penalized for violations and were barred from postseason play in '92. That is it. I am 100% positive there are many more NCAA violations from the likes of Michigan and Minnesota. As for it being only a basketball school what about UCLA, UNC, and Duke to name a few? All of the above are primarily basketball schools.

No one suggested UNLV is on the same level of historical significance as Minnesota, Yale, or Michigan. Number one it hasn't been around long enough to even be half as old as those schools for the most part. Sure Yale has numerous championships but half of those occurred in the early 20th century when the term "National Championship" was a loosely termed phrase as a contest between only 5 universities in the whole country. I will tell you, however, with possibly the exception of Michigan, UNLV is most prominent in TODAY'S society in terms of sports.

Dude. Nobody gives a shite about UNLV anymore. For fans of college sports in general, UNLV is nothing more than a speck of dust. Do you really think there are more diehard UNLV fans out there than diehard Minnesota fans?

What about 2000 when they were put on 4-year probation for violations that included a booster's payment of $5,600 to Lamar Odom and the failure to monitor recruiting visits?

It would be an understatement to say that I feel vindicated. I should have locked the door when I had the chance.

Yeah, that.

I was going for that Julius Caesar quote from Marc Anthony but I haven't read that shite since about 9th grade.

There will be other times for dramatic allusion

No one gives a shite about UNLV anymore. You obviously are not from Las Vegas. Hate to break it to you but there are plenty of people who are "into" UNLV basketball. If you would go to a game you would probably find that out. Also the team has had some recent success as I have highlighted earlier drawing more fans in as of recently. In terms of there being more diehard fans of Minnesota than UNLV I cannot state one way or another. Diehard is defined by Merriam Webster as...

Main Entry:
die–hard
Pronunciation:
\ˈdī-ˌhärd\
Function:
adjective
Date:
1922

: strongly or fanatically determined or devoted

Going by this definition it is clearly a subjective term that you cannot readily quantify.

First of all the only reason the University was scrutinzed so heavily upon is because the NCAA had a bone to pick with Tarkanian. Which as I have stated previously he was exonerated for and awarded payment for misconduct by the NCAA. All of these sanctions placed on UNLV are the NCAA trying to find a needle in a haystack to knock down UNLV since they couldn't find any violations earlier when Tarkanian was the coach. People say that the Rat Pack made this town what it is. They are wrong what really made this town was Tarkanian in the late 80's early 90's.
