I posted in the other thread, but why not choke up?

You could change the properties of the driver and maybe for the worse.

I’m thinking of shortening my driver too.

I’ve choked up too, it’s just not the same.
For me anyways .

Go listen to Callaway's The Fitting Room Podcast, Episode 121 around the 5 minute mark. They talk about shorting the shaft of a driver, the issues that arise, etc.

This podcast and The Fitting Room podcast get into the weeds of club fitting and tinkering. I doubt most people will notice a lot of the stuff that they address on a weekly basis, but it is worth considering.

I'm 5'9" and would prefer a shorter driver shaft. I have great control of my 3 wood but no so much with my driver. I've read a bunch on it and listened to tech guys on video and most are of the consensus that your accuracy is greatly improved. Choking up just doesn't give me the same feel.

I want to say I've shortened one before and it wasn't that complicated. Just a matter of pull g the grip off, cutting the shaft and putting the grip back on. I don't know that anyone is open right now to do it.

I just cut my M6 down to 44 inches. I ripped the grip off, put masking tape on the area I needed to cut and shapied the cut line. Then I got a $6 fine tooth hack saw from Lowe’s and cut the shaft. Then regrip. I was surprised how easy it was. Also I’m hitting the center of the face so much more and it’s much easier to control.

It seems a little ridiculous that off the rack clubs are 45.75 inches long now when pros don’t average that length.

Greystone has a club repair person, just drop it off usually finished in a day or two.

If you cut it with a hacksaw be absolutely certain to rotate the shaft as you cut.
