Rocket league/controller issues?

So Rocket league has been one of the most enjoyable online games that I play with friends although recently I’ve been having serious issues with gameplay that were too noticeable to be just me. Most obvious thing was a new controller I purchased through amazon. It works fine with all over games but when it comes to rocket league there is an obvious flaw in that when I try and forward thrust or double jump sometimes(actually most of the time) I float slowly forward and I know it’s not Just me. Therefore I just never use that controller for rocket league. But since yesterday I started noticing obvious trends with the controller I usually use and I’m wondering if this is a sign of the controller going out???? Can anyone relate to this and shed light? I’d really appreciate it.
