I have a few hundred hours in it. Played it when it came out. Then again with the first dlc then again with the next dlc.
It isn't for everyone. You won't be insanely overpowered by the end of the game. You will have more tools and spells but you won't be able to dominate everything like you would in a typical RPG.
It can be janky. I think it looks great with vibrant colors absent from most games. The score is one of the best in recent years. The story isn't going to absorb your attention. It is mostly non-existent. I loved it but as I said, not for everyone.
It is dirt cheap so get it. If you hate it, who cares.
Maybe watch Cohhcarnage play it for a bit. He has 3.5 playthroughs to watch.

Oh and there is no hand holding. Sorry for the spoiler but DO NOT travel from zone to zone without taking care of all business at home. They do not give quest timers. Just some very mild hints that you need to take care of business at home before heading out into the wild world.
The dlc gives some warnings that you have a certain number of days to handle an issue but it is on you to count down the days. The base game? Nope. A vague warning to handle something.
