Ordering games from PS Store or buy real game

If my PS3 broke and I had already ordered video games from the Playstation Store and it was on my hard drive, would I lose those games?
Hence it would be a safer bet to just buy the game itself.
Perhaps a dumb question, but I feel like I might be missing something.

You can download it again. It should stay in your PSN download box.
