I hate recruiting. It's such a waste of time, I wish they stuck it at the end of the season like the older versions.
Does recruiting still take forever in NCAA 11? That seriously might be a dealbreaker for me. I'm not going to spend another $60 on this game, with updated rosters, a few gameplay tweaks, and new camera angles if recruiting hasn't been improved.
You can let the computer handle it.
One thing I've done in past years is focus on the key guys that I want and let the computer handle the rest.

i dont know how people complain about recruiting taking too long when you don't have to do it. if you don't do it it's not like ur at a disadvantage ur recruiting will be the same as all the computer teams.
and like the guy above said u can recruit anyone that u really want and let the computer handle the rest

I've simmed through about 5 weeks, just doing the recruiting.
It's taking me a little longer to get through the weeks this year. Last year, I would quick call everyone for the first 3 or 4 weeks. Then I would manually call those that were ready to visit, quick calling those that were either not ready or already signed up for a visit.
There are so many options this year that it makes it much more fun. Especially recruiting against other teams. Last year I had no idea how to use it or if it was working. This year it's pretty cool.
Here's my system so far (tweaking as I learn more):
-30 to 40 minutes on 5* or players I need/want badly, 20 minutes on all others. If I really need someone I will bump it up to 60 minutes.
-"Ask Player what he thinks..." on any topic I don't know his interest until I get his Most and 2 Very Highs.
-Compare my school to his other top school if I have an advantage. Love this part.
-If I don't have an advantage and the importance is high, then I pitch it. If importance is low I make a promise. If I'm out of promises, I can try and change the topic or just pitch the crappy item.
-Offer scholarships when I am number 1 on the list or their visit is within two weeks. In the last half of the season, I may offer someone a schollie that's not interested to see if it helps. Sometimes it did in the past, don't know about this year yet.
-Schedule a visit when I have their Most and Very Highs unlocked or the season is coming to a close. Usually against a weak rival like Ole Miss or Tulane if possible. Stronger teams if I feel good about things.

You are allowed only 3 promises during the season right? Do you get more during the off-season?

No - 3 total promises per player
