i must be old - PS4 Mic related question

long story, just got PS+ on my PS4. been about 10 years since I last online gamed. I use to have a mic that I would use and all sound came out of the TV. Now it seems on the PS4 you have to plug up a headset through the controller and all chat audio comes out through it and I find myself yelling cause I can't tell how loud I am with the damn headset covering my ears and then nobody else in the room can hear the chat and I can't hear the TV wearing the dumb earmuff headset.
Do they not have the basic mic only like I had 10 years ago. I want all audio output to come from the tv.

Check your audio output settings on your PS4. It’s probably set to ‘voice chat audio’ instead of ‘all audio’

when you use the port on the controller for the headset, it is chat audio or all audio. No way to override chat audio coming out of the controller port when in use.

and when I use the headset, I can't even judge how loud i am talking. Almost noise cancelling and can hear my heartbeat

Ahh, I gotcha. That makes way more sense than what I was thinking.
