How to shoot freethrow on NBA 2k8

Just picked up college hoops & NBA 2k8 games used. No instructions... How do I shoot freethrows?

If it is like nba 2k9 you pull back on the right analog and as soon as the player shooting the free throws is about to release the ball you also release the analog control at the same time.
