Hello Neighbor (PS4) - What Am I Missing?

So I picked this game up a few weeks ago and I'm not getting the appeal. I tried getting into the house unsuccessfully and dude jumped through the window a few times and nabbed me. Eventually I woke up inside the house, and the creepy Neighbor is outside examining a car wreck, and other than run back and forth along a long corridor, I can't do anything else.
WTF am I missing?

The game apparently didn't have an appeal to get. It got absolutely terrible reviews.

You almost never see across the board scores that low.
General consensus seems to be that it's just a very bad game. I never played it myself, watched a streamer play it a bit once awhile ago. The art style looked neat but beyond that it looked pretty meh.
