Yikes, that seems like a lot of salty stuff for one roast.

all the gravy mixes are dialuted in a large Magnaloy stock pot filled 3/4 of the way full with water.
The potatoes will abord a lot of the sodium at the end. It is a great recipe that I have been making this way for years. My wife loves it and request a roast cooked this way every couple of weeks.

Yes. The traditional recipe does call for this. I've never done it though. I had never even heard of Sauerbraten until a friend gave me this recipe about 15 years ago. And I LOVE it and everyone I make it for goes crazy over it.
The flavor as it is, is very pronounced, so I'm wondering if it might be too strong doing the marinade method. Maybe I'll try that one day.
