I appreciate your criticism; it helps me run my business better. I hope your experience was an exception and not the rule. Please do me a favor, next time you are in town come back in and ask for Nando . I would like another chance to take care of you. I know you are not looking for a free meal. My relationships with some of my best customers, those who have been coming in twice a week for 16 years, became that way because I took the time to address their concerns as well. Please accept my invitation and apologies for any other negative responses you may receive for your post.

Big Taco, you say you came from the original location on Navigation in Houston. That place was a traditional part of an annual trip friends and I would make to Houston. We had some truly great times and meals there. There was a gentleman named Gilbert that we became friends with over the years. I understand that he had some sort of liver disease that took his life. Did you know Gilbert?

Mama Ninfa also passed away a few years ago, Roland has a restaaurant called "El Tiempo " i think they have a two or three locations . I have lost contact with them. I was raised in the restaurant bussiness , Philiys is married to Tony Mendola who used to own the "blue Oyster Bars" in Houston , his brother Damion ownes the " Spagehti houses " or at least he used to . Tommy and Gino had restaurants in Austin . I do not know about Jack . I am 1 of the last of the Mohicans.

We loved Gilbert. He "got" our sense of humor. Damn, we were funny after a few pitchers.

Didn't mean to bring you down. We have some great memories with Gilbert.

I haven't been to Ninfa's here in years, but because of this thread I am going to come in and give it a try.

We have been going to Ninfas for about 9 years so far, and we never had any problems. Food is great. Managers and staff are wonderful. They are always on there toes asking if everything is alright. The wait is sometimes long, but if you call ahead it is not so bad.

I've been going to Ninfa's since shortly after it opened. As a rule the food has been excellent, and on the few occasions when it fell short, letting the manager know was in order---if we don't give this information to the folks who run the place it's hard for them to fix. I wouldn't be going to the same eatery for 15 years if they weren't taking care of business.
When we do go to another Mexican place, we end up comparing it to Nifa's, and they have all come up short. I would say that Nifa's style of food works for us, but obviously doesn't for everyone. I found what works for me and stuck with it.
As big taco said in one of the replies, talk with Hernando if all is not right---he'll take care of it.

Just wanted to represent for all the Ninfas lovers out there. I've been going to that place for at least the past ten years and have never had a bad experience. Food is great, service is QUICK, and I think the margaritas are the best in town. I think Baton Rouge is lucky to have such a thriving "TexMex" market!

The managers always make you feel welcome and do whatever they can do to make sure you have a positive experience. The servers frequent the tables enough to abate your needs without being annoying!

Just had to give this place another positive vote!
