Meat delivery subscriptions - local vs. national

Looking at potential meat delivery options to try out different meals every month. I've read that going local is usually the best way to go, but some websites like Crowd Cow and Butcher Box have competitive pricing. Anyone have experience with meat subscriptions?

I've had good experience with BTR Iverstine Butcher subscription. I'd worry about national venders who have to rely on Fedex or UPS for timely delivery.
