Mom used to work there when she was a teenager and young adult, place is freaking amazing.

Old chinese ladies and their younger daughters used to give us a bunch of free stuff when I used to still live in NO.

Love that place.

I attempted to eat at Fong's once -- placed an order over the phone and as I was walking in I saw the old lady stirring around old crap from the buffet table and then scooping into a to-go box. Then I realized that was MY food. I walked out and went straight to Young's.

My friend from River Ridge told me the story of how back in the 80s "Paw Paw Fong" (who was actually the owner's brother, not husband) pulled a knife (or samurai sword, in some versions) on the food inspectors and cops after refusing to let them inspect the restaurant.

And then of course there was the incident a few years ago when the old lady from Fong's tried to burn down Young's and was caught on tape and subsequently sent to jail.

The Fongs are crazy
