What free software for editing/creating GIFs does the Fark board recommend?

I would love to have Photoshop, but I don't have the money or care to torrent on my company laptop.
I use GIMP, which is free. It's tough to do gifs, but you can do it.

Photoshop is free. You just have to know where to "shop"
