What is a Ballpark cost on a business getting this done?

Just make sure that all rights to the image are yours (or your companies). I'm sure that is standard but the worst thing that could happen to you is that you pay for the logo design and 2 years down the road they come back and claim it's theirs. I'm sure it rarely, if ever happens, but you never know.

Good advice, and I would add, try to get the source file (usually an Adobe Illustrator file). Even if you can't open and edit it yourself, you can pass it on to a new designer, should you need to modify the logo in the future.
