Help with Newspaper Clippings

I've scanned in a bunch of newspaper clippings of my Uncle Spooky's football and track days in the early 1940's. He had them taped up in a scrap book that eventually fell apart.
The tape caused the paper to yellow much more than the rest of the paper.
I know many of you are true artists at fixing up images, but there are so many of them I was wondering if someone could give me some instruction on reasonable method to do it myself.
Here's one of the scanned clippings so you can see what I'm talking about:
Is there a relatively simple way to remove the yellowing?
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, no. There may be some niche programs that can do it easily. However, there is not an easy fix with my software.
Photoshop might be another story. Someone who uses that platform will likely have more experience with its capabilities.
Sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck.

I used two different methods on this. Using cut and paste/clone stamp gives the best results but is not quick. Next I tried using the replace color tool in PS. This is much quicker but there is still yellowing from the tape. Perhaps fooling around with the settings some more will achieve a better match. I believe another way is to isolate the yellow color in one of the color channels. I didn't have time to give that a try.

Thanks for your help.
I'll play with it a bit and see if it's worth it for me to try to fix them up but I'm now doubting that it'll be feasible.

I didn't spend alot of time trying the color change option. Maybe fooling w/ the settings or trying it a couple of times will get the color matched up better. I did quickly check the color channels but didn't get very far there.
Probably a piece a cake for a PS pro.

LSU Tigerhead:
Personally, I like the original look.
What programs do you have available for your use?
After playing with various techniques in Photoshop to see the best results, I can change your original image to this in about 60 sec.
I'm sure it could translate over to Gimp...
