GIMP 2 Question about incorporating partial color in a B&W image

So I finally bought a legitimate camera, and I'm putting together some B&W's of my wife and kids that we'll frame later.
I have a certain picture of her reading a book to them titled "My First Colors" or something like that. Obviously, it has a bunch of colors on the cover.
How would I achieve keeping the color scheme of the book cover while having absence of color in the remainder of the image? This is in GIMP 2.

You can duplicate the layer and then drop down the color on the second layer to B&W or whatever you want to do and then erase the parts of the image that you want colorized.
An easy example is the navy baw kissing the gal in the street. Say you wanted the two lovebirds in color but all the rest in B&W. You’d duplicate the main layer (so essentially you’d have two copies of the same “picture” in your layers palette) then make the second (top) layer B&W with the saturation tool then go to town and erase the areas you want color. Try it out. Good luck

That makes sense. I'll attempt it tomorrow and report back, perhaps with the results.

Misread as inserting color into a BBW. I'm disappoint. :(

Yeah there are plenty of “how to” videos for that.
