re: TD Fantasy: The Auction League Year 7. Draft Sept.8 7:30 PM cst
Fantasy football teams are about consistently scoring high points week to week.
Scoring 250 one week and 60 the next week should not be rewarded by further splitting of the pot IMO.
However, if league wants to reward highest points over third place by giving back the entry fee, no issue with that.

I'm in and i'm totally good with this payout scale.

quote:

How about
1st $750
2nd $250
3rd $100

Most points scored $100

Boom! Welcome aboard JBeam

Have you auctioned before?

I’m also good with the overall payout and not the weekly. Just always seems to muddy the waters a bit imo.

But I’m good with whatever the majority decides.

I think fantasy football is about building a squad that will net you as many points as possible over the course of a season. At least, that's my goal when drafting and making wire moves.

I was able to do that last year. My team scored more total points over the course of the season than any other team. I was in the highest scoring group for 11 of 13 weeks and my reward for it was $0. Meanwhile the guy whose team was in the LOWEST scoring group for 6 of 13 weeks took home $850. I just didn't do as well a couple of weeks that just happened to be the "playoffs."

Whatever, I think the split payouts I presented were completely fair based on last year's team performances. Just throwing it out there. You won't care until it happens to you.

re: TD Fantasy: The Auction League Year 7. Draft Sept.8 7:30 PM cst
Had that happen many times, which is why I support money back for highest points, especially over third place.
Luck is always a HUGE factor every season in fantasy football.
If you want to reduce (definitely not eliminate) the luck factor in FFB, then make the playoffs two weeks long for each round and change the scoring to a hybrid or top 6/bottom 6 model. However, this potentially eliminates H2H matchups, or meaningful weeks of H2H matchups for those members with bad luck.
My favorite league payout style is 100% of the pot to the winner and the two finalists always decide the pot split before the championship game. But that’s just a personal preference.
I joined the league to have fun, so I am good with whatever the league decides.
A recommendation based on this thread discussion would be:

1st $850
2nd $250
Most points scored $100

Cheers! Looking forward to the auction!

re: TD Fantasy: The Auction League Year 7. Draft Sept.8 7:30 PM cst
I'll counter with:

Playoffs
1st- $600
2nd- $250
3rd- $50

Points Race
1st- $300

Win both the points race and the playoffs and you take home $900. Go 7-6 then get hot in the "playoffs" and you can still win $600. Crush the regular season but luck goes against you in the "playoffs," then you still earn $300.

This is pretty fricking fair IMO and I'm dying on this hill in the name of future top scoring, best record teams who get shafted.

Nah way too much for the points. I'm cool with taking $100 from first and giving it to the team with most points at end of year but $300 is way too much IMO.

re: TD Fantasy: The Auction League Year 7. Draft Sept.8 7:30 PM cst
Well I think a 7-6 team that gets hot at the end of a season and wins $850 is way too much.

I'm talking about making a change that will actually move more towards awarding THE BEST fantasy teams and owners each year using a fair performance-to-payout ratio, not skewing the payouts towards the last few weeks of a 16 weeks season.

Plus, my payout structure actually bumps UP the overall payout to $900 if you win the points and the playoffs.

So you are saying let's take money away from 1st place and I am saying that the actual legit best team could win up to $900. Is that right?

Why is $300 "way too much" for a team that goes 11-2 and scores the most points over the course of the season (including the playoffs). I'm legit curious to hear why you feel that team only deserves $100.

Edit: And if you remove the "playoff" label and just play out the 16 weeks as T6B6, I would have also had the best full season record at 13-3 ;)

1st place 60% payout
2nd place 20% payout
3rd place 10% payout
Season high scorer 10% payout

Could make it

1-50%
2-25%
3rd-15%
High score 10%

re: TD Fantasy: The Auction League Year 7. Draft Sept.8 7:30 PM cst
So you scored the most points 11 out of 16 weeks. That's great luck and happens, but I don't think you should be awarded for it if in the end if you don't place 1, 2, 3.

Fantasy football happens of the course of the 16 weeks. There are numerous trades, waivers, injuries, etc. that are out of everyone's control of the course of the 16 week season. However, part of managing a FF team is to 1 build your team into the playoffs, and 2 make sure that the team you have in the playoff has the best chance of winning by playing your best strategies/match ups/injury management etc.

You're asking to be rewarded for doing really well for 11 weeks and I for one don't agree with it. Clearly you had some bad luck or bad management in the playoffs. Guess what, that happens to the other 11 teams as well throughout the season. You may in fact had the best group of players for the whole season, but when it mattered they came up short. Its called fantasy football for a reason it's not necessarily fair or equal playing field despite all your efforts.

I’m with ATL on this, and that’s what I got last year.

We are actually doing a similar payout in Regulars this year.

Dropping 3rd place for a top scorer prize.

Still working out the exact numbers but one I like is:

1st: 700
2nd: 300

Top scorer: 200

Like he says, if you’re the number one team all season but just have a bad week in the playoffs, you still get your money back and fees for next year.

If he loses the SB he still gets a solid 500 payout.

But if you sneak in and go on a big run (like I admittedly did last year), you can’t complain about 700 bucks.

I scored the most points over the course of 16 weeks. 13 of 16 weeks I was in the Top 6. What does "placing 1,2,3" even mean? As last years winner even admits, it means you got hot for 3 weeks. VooDoo ended up with a 10-6 (t6b6) overall record. I ended up with a 13-3 overall record. VooDoo ended up 3rd in overall points. My team was 1st in overall points.

I'm still waiting for someone with actual reading comprehension skills and common sense to provide a legit reason why my team from last year should have not be awarded $300 out of a $1200 fricking pot.

I agree, which is why, for this league (where I don't know any of you IRL) I prefer to remove as much h2h, BS luck elements as possible. The ONLY reason I didn't win it all last year is because Kareem Hunt kicked a woman. Then VooDoo profited at the end. So he essentially won $850 for a single waiver move. Why don't YOU explain to ME why HE deserves $850 of a $1200 pot for that?

quote:

You're asking to be rewarded for doing really well for 11 weeks and I for one don't agree with it.

And you're asking to reward a team that did really well for 3 weeks in the playoffs, what's your point? I had the best team last year and I won $0. I'm just trying to prevent this from happening to me, you or anyone else again. I legit have the league's best interest at heart here. $300 is not too much for most season total points. It's just not. If we make this move we will be THE most legit league on this board when it comes to awarding the best teams/owners.

I would suggest you go back and reread my posts again and actually understand what I'm saying here. This structure is probably one of the most fair(awarding the actual best teams) payouts you can have in fantasy football in 2019. Especially for a group of guys who don't know each other, where traditional h2h elements don't really mean as much.

Playoffs
1st- $600
2nd- $250
3rd- $50

Points Race
1st- $300

Vote yes and let's start focusing on the draft.

Edit: And VooDoo, I appreciate your support on this. You actually get it. I just think $300 is the more fair payout for points based on the last year's scenario.

Come on. That logic states best team in the regular NFL season takes home the Super Bowl trophy. That team may not have even played the toughest teams in the league. In the playoffs, you play the toughest teams in the league, both in fantasy football and real NFL. And when playing the toughest teams, you still have to get lucky. Guess you should have looked at your players’ playoff schedules last year to have better matchups in weeks 14-16. Perhaps not luck and just poor team management...

re: TD Fantasy: The Auction League Year 7. Draft Sept.8 7:30 PM cst
I’d rather do weekly high scorer payout. Seems more fair to me.

High scorer each week gets $20. That’s a total of $260 if your team is good enough to score the most each week.

Being able to manage your team weirder by waiver, trade, or the draft means a lot. Injuries happen but are you managing your team good enough to recover from those injuries.

Last year in one of my leagues gurley screwed me at the end and I didn’t have CJ. Had I managed my bench better through the draft and waiver wire I wouldn’t have been as badly hurt from his injury.

I could care less what the payouts are but everyone knows fantasy has a lot of luck involved it’s just like gambling at the boat sometimes the best hand doesn’t always win.

But Highest scorer getting $300 will definitely change my draft strategy

I never thought I would be in a fantasy league who roots so much for participation trophies as this thread has uncovered. This is definitely going to be a fun and interesting year with these mentalities in the league lol!

There is only one champion every year. Luck plays a large factor, as does team management. Only one manager/team deserves the title of champion.
