It’s going to get heated with the opt-out clause

Who determines who is at “high risk” and who isn’t

This is a job. If you don’t return to work, you shouldn’t get paid.

That provision does not need to even be in the proposal because teams are likely to take care of those with the extreme high risk anyway. For example, I’m sure the Indians organization would do everything it could to support Carrasco if he chose not to play.

114 is a great number at this point, but ending the regular season on Oct. 31st and then having expanded playoffs... can't wait to see some late November games in places like NYC or Boston or Minnesota (yeah, right) playing in a blizzard.

Dear Fan, Thank you for your email. MLB has decided to suspend Spring Training games and delay the start of the 2020 regular season. Following the updated recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) restricting events of more than 50 people for the time being, the opening of the 2020 regular season will be pushed back in accordance with that guidance. MLB will keep fans updated on decisions regarding plans for the 2020 schedule in the days and weeks ahead. MLB and the Clubs remain committed to playing as many games as possible when the season begins. In the interim, active MLB.TV subscribers still have access to on-demand archives, news and highlights. $120 to watch random arse regular season games or catch the 95 ALCS, Game 6 of the 86 WS, or Game 5 of the 04 ALCS on any given channel at any given moment for the cost of what you already pay for cable. As well as plenty of highlights and game recaps for free on YouTube.

I’ll take my money back thank you.

I saw on twitter that if you DM @MLBfansupport or email mlb.tv that they’ve been issuing refunds. Keep forgetting to do that before 8 pm

If there’s a season, I’ll still pay. In my email I even wrote that I’ll take credits toward next season (if there is one). But it was pretty disappointing that I got back an auto response within two minutes of my email.

They don’t care about fans, just give us your money.

I emailed MLB.TV and got back the auto-generated response.

Hi swamie, thanks for the message. I will go ahead and submit a refund request on your behalf now. Please allow 3-5 business days for this to process.

Received this message 15 min after messaging MLB Fan Support on Twitter with my email and a request for refund.

Doesn’t seem like it.

On a side note, I’m starting to wonder why a short term alternative league hasn’t tried to capitalize on these negotiations like the AAF did with technology, fantasy sports, and football.

If it was announced tomorrow that a group will be signing the hundreds of released minor leaguers and integrating a fee-based fantasy and data tracking platform, I’d be draft prepping right now.

I was thinking same way Fantrax makes money. We all chip in for the premium league...what like $4?

I’d easily pay a $20 fee to access their platform.

The Fantasy Sports & Gaming Association estimated there were 59 million fantasy sports players in 2017. Their 2019 survey said 39% of fantasy sports participant play fantasy baseball. Let’s assume ONLY 1/3 play in cash prize leagues.

59,000,000 x .39 = 23,000,000 fantasy baseball players

23,000,000 x .33 = 7.6 million playing in cash prize leagues

7.6 million x $20 = $152 million on the high end if you assumed that every cash league player would pony up to play. And that would be your basic fee, not a premium fee to access video, advanced metrics/analysis, etc.

As far as expenses, we’re talking bare bones. Players, coaches, facility rentals, minimal staff, unis, equipment. Basically your local little league plus the technology and minus taxes.

I couldn’t begin to quantify those costs. I could only guess what’s the lowest % of $152 million they could expect to receive and they’d still make a profit. And that guess would be 30%? So a little over 2 million users and $45 million

So we’ll be doing a roto league for the 48 games, right?

I actually thought about that earlier today.

I’m good either way, but my vote would be to keep it the same entry fee to keep the interest level high.

In a shortened season like this, anyone can win. It’s a sprint, not a marathon.

Sure like like roto is the answer to maximize games in a 50 game season.

I gave them too much credit early on. I really thought they'd figure out a way to get a half season in. They have totally fricked this up.
