Is it possible to use Google maps in VR mode anymore?

I remember doing this a couple years ago on my iPhone. On Google Street View, there was an option to click the little VR headset and view street view in VR mode and look around with a Google cardboard headset or any other VR viewer.
But I don’t see that option anymore. Did they remove it or am I just not seeing it?

I still see it on Android. It's a compass icon on the top right.

It doesn’t go into VR mode where I can view it through a VR headset.
