Recent/Current LSU Roster:

Gilbert #1 player (Georgia)
Stevens #2 player (Tennessee)
Ricks #2 player (Cali)
Sampah #3 player (VA)
Hampton #1 player (Tenn)
Brooks #3 player (TX)
Ika #2 player (Utah)

2021 Class commitments

Davis #3 player (Cali)
Smith #1 player (Miss)

I hate that Sage Ryan is headed to Bama, but shite happens! We literally snatch the top players from other states every cycle. Hopefully this will result in another Hootie Jones/Jamal Adams situation for us.

The idea is to lock down our state’s top guys and cherry pick from the other states.

The recruiting class can still be really good without Ryan, but it’s a huge blow to lose him

None of those players listed (other than Gilbert) have a truly elite program to play for in their home state. Those were all elite players looking to leave the state because they wanted to play for an elite program.

Not only that, but Louisiana is unique in the sense that LSU is the only major Power 5 program in the state. There's a unique culture here that binds the people and LSU through football. This really isn't present in other states.

This is why LSU has always heavily relied on in state talent. When a stud 5 star safety decides to shun LSU (and his family) and leave the state for a divisional rival, it's more significant than some highly rated player leaving a state like California or Virginia.

So who is our Jamal Adams? Gee or Langlois?

The ability to recruit nationally has been a huge plus and not something LSU's been able to consistently accomplish until now. O deserves some credit for that.

But you're supposed to lock in on your biggest in-state targets. Losing Ryan and BTJ is just not good enough.

Idk. He could be in the next cycle. It just doesnt bother me losing an occasional guy to Bama.

I remember getting upset about the Surtain situation (I know he's from FL). We followed up the next 2 cycles by grabbing the best CB recruit since Peterson and the #1 CB for 2020.

We are losing our top players to our biggest rival.

You don't have a leg to stand on until we steal a top player from the state of Alabama.

Alabama's 2021 Class:

#1 Texas
#1 Michigan
#1, #6, #9 Florida
#6 Georgia
#4 Maryland
#6 Louisiana, soon to add #2 Louisiana

We're not recruiting close to the level of Alabama.

Got a combined 30 tackles from these two before they left the program.

It's hard to take some of y'all seriously when you bring up 2014 as some great period of LSU football.
