It was not even 1 year ago that I was going to LSU football games my freshman year of college watching us put up a historical season. 15-0, SEC champions, National Champions, Heisman winner, you name it. I can definitely say I am lucky I got to experience that run my first year in college.

We sit here 3 games into the short season so far sitting at 1-2, something that hasn’t happened since 1994, apparently, I found that out today. I wasn’t even born then. I knew that last year LSU had a superstar DC in Aranda, an incredibly smart and young coaching star in Brady, 14 NFL draft picks, (tied for the most ever) 5 first round picks, including the number one overall pick in Burrow who was obviously a once in a lifetime QB. I wasn’t expecting them to go on a National Championship run this year, but I can honestly say I was expecting them to be 3-0 at this point. It’s freaking Mississippi St. with Leach, Vanderbilt, and Missouri with a coach who goes for fake punts on the 50.

We have played the mighty teams of Mississippi St. who annihilated our defense, Vanderbilt maybe the only other team in the SEC worse than us, and Missouri who again annihilated Bo’s defense. I am starting to hear the Gene Chizik comparisons with O and starting to wonder if he did really catch lightning in a bottle last year. As I read about players and coaches fighting, I see the complete lack of a defensive scheme, the WR rotation, the lack of Emery’s touches, the worst defense ever, you name it, I wonder if we will be sitting here at 3-7by the end of the year. By the way what happens then with that record?

Keep in mind, Arkansas and Kentucky have both beaten Mississippi St. and Costello sucked, Missouri was winless coming in to today, and Vanderbilt may not win a game this year.

It’s been a weird year with corona and everything, and LSU lost a lot, but this is LSU, and O you don’t have a lifetime pass just because you won a title here. Remember Miles did as well. The only positives I’m seeing right now are Brennan’s progression, Marshall, and Gilbert. This is a complete shitshow, and the worst LSU defense I have ever seen in my short lifetime. They need to figure this out soon. Bo, you may need to see the door sooner rather than later.

Florida could wipe the floor with us next week, Bama will steamroll us at home this year, A&M and Auburn both will probably beat us on their home field, and after seeing Arkansas and Ole Piss these past couple weeks, especially Ole Piss tonight I’m not sure we’re even better than those teams right now. Maybe it’s a bit of an overreaction, but this team has been pretty god awful so far.

Florida will be a challenge in the Swamp; if we do not have significant improvement they will score at will and beat the ever loving do-do out of us. It will be ugly.

Less talented players and poor coaching is a bad combination and likely significant reason for the defense or lack of defense. Hopefully the Tigers stay together as a team and improve to a respectable version of competition. The toughest part of the schedule begins next week and all of those opponents want pay-back for last season beginning with Florida.

We had the perfect storm last year. We caught Ga, Clem, and Bama in weaker than normal defense years.
