I think she adopted henry because that's the only way she could ever have someone to love her. I think mr gold is the one who set up the adoption and regina had no clue who henry belonged to. But mr. Gold knew somehow

That's been my gripe about season 1. They try way too hard to make the evil queen sympathetic in some ways.

Meh love the show, slow boring episode, sick of them trying to make us feel sympathy for the queen, the evil queen isn't so evil,

so is Rumpelstiltskin Regina's real father or was he alluding to something else right before he gave her that mirror gift?

I think Regina's mom was the Miller's daughther in the original Rumpelstiltskin story, in which she owed him her first born, but obviously got her back by guessing his name. or...as in another story Rumpelstiltskin falls in love with the miller's daughter and they have Regina. I do believe that Regina's evil mom is the miller's daughter
