Even though I haven't gotten my hands on it, from seeing their shop and their smokers the new Austin Smokeworks backyard pit should turn into the leader of the backyard market. Need to up the budget though. You aren't going to get anything from any of the Central Texas builders for $2k, especially not with brisket prices.

I always tell people go bigger on a backyard smoker, much easier to maintain the fire and will make for a more enjoyable cook. 120-150 gallon would be my smallest, skip the 20" chamber models a lot of places will sell. Now if you want to get a 250 gallon smoker on a trailer I might know a guy
