Hunted there in the 90s when the Stutts Field was planted in corn. The refuges’ primary management focused around waterfowl. There would be 100k ducks in there at times. The last few weekends of the season we had a brake we would hunt that was 1/2 mile walk from the river. You could bring as many people as you wanted and limit on mallards and gadwalls. It was unreal the ducks would get off that field and start filtering into the woods You would have a pair of ducks working and then look up above them and there would be 100 dropping down

Then the public griped about access and they put an ATV trail right up to it. It got shot out quick and then the field got planted in hardwoods. Good times as a kid

Grew up hunting there in the 60-80’s. Killed many a deer and duck in that same basic area. It was a garden of Eden. I feel so blessed to have had that opportunity with my father and grandfather. The amount of game that existed there when Mr KC Loftin owned Greenleaf bend was just incredible.
