didn't follow this at all as it was pretty obvious they were guilty, so have a question; What was the reasoning behind the 4 felony murder charges?
I mean one guy was dead so 4 murder charges seems odd.
Each lesser felony (i.e. assault, false imprisonment) came with an associated charge of “felony murder” if Travis was found guilty of murder and the jury determined that the lesser felony was in furtherance (that is to say “aided”) the malice murder.
So each defendant was stuck with a group of 4 felony murders charges predicated upon the lesser charges to deal with if the killing itself was judged to be murder.
@BuckyCheese
If I had to guess, I would imagine deciding each of the felony murder counts was their last bit of business this morning before they announced their verdict.
They probably decided Travis’s fate yesterday. And they requested to see the video and listen to the 911 call this morning. Once they decided that Travis had committed murder and the underlying felony’s (i.e. assault, self-defense) may have aided in the murder, they probably took a vote on the felony murder charges at noon and then announced the verdict 1 hour later.
