From a legal standpoint and for the purposes of success in future defamation actions, he would be better off not exhibiting himself in high profile “public” arena. His trial attorney feels as I do. To the downvoters and you, be aware that there is more to a defamation action than just having someone tell a lie about you.

Does the timing of the comments matter? Honest question. If he wasn’t a public figure when the comments were made, does the difference in standard change if he later becomes a public figure?
