Max needs to take 2 steps back in shotgun

I have noticed how quickly Max is getting pressure. A good buddy of mine who was a starting center in the SEC noted that if Max were to take 2 steps back from the center, he would have much more time and better angles for his throws. Seems like a simple correction to try?

Outside rushers would just run by the tackle every play. That’s why it’s called a pocket. The biggest issue is the center gives up too much ground and Max doesn’t have a lot of opportunities to step up.
It still does excuse him backing up and throwing off his back foot.
