AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite Thread: Grand Slam Edition

Bryan Danielson was very open about his move to AEW with his old co-workers at WWE... and even agreed to the request of not using the "yes" chant in AEW as a way to respect WWE's intellectual property even though there would be no legal ramification to him continuing to use it.
Lots of fans have been expecting AEW to roll out a Trios Tag Team Championship for a while now... but there's a report out today another new AEW championship could be out first. It's expected AEW will unveil a women's mid-card championship... perhaps a women's tag title... sooner rather than later.
Chavo Guerrero was written off of AEW TV so he could return to work as the wrestling consultant on the show "Heels".
The edict has reportedly gone out to make NXT 2.0 "edgier"... which apparently includes harsher language being allowed and the women wearing skimpier clothing (see: Toxic Attraction)
An interesting thing I recently found out... which will make all the "ratings" talk make sense. Turner has... what I believe to be a very easy... decision to make soon... whether to pick up a 1 year option on AEW's current TV deal. If Turner doesn't pick it up, then AEW's current contract would expire at the end of 2023.
But if Turner does pick up the option (very likely)... that'll push the contract to December 2024... 3 months after WWE's current deals with both Fox & NBCUniversal expire. Considering the ratings & the current deal... it's clear AEW is currently underpaid. With the obvious growth in viewership (remember... the hope when it started 3 years ago was 500,000 overall viewers, which was exceeded from day 1)... it'll be very easy for Tony Khan to look at whatever number Raw gets on its new deal (likely to come out late 2023-early 2024) and say to Turner 'yeah... something closer to that'. This isn't WCW where Turner owned the company... it's a private business and Khan can go shop AEW programming around to other networks and get the biggest bang for the buck.
Something I learned yesterday... Anthony Bowens once worked in production at the MLB Network. That came out as Bowens & Orange Cassidy were promoting tonight's Dynamite on the show MLB Central on the MLB Network. Bowens did all the talking and Orange Cassidy did Orange Cassidy things.
Wrestlenomics' Brandon Thurston says more than 20,000 people are expected to be at Arthur Ashe Stadium tonight... likely making tonight's episode of Dynamite the largest attended non-WWE wrestling show in the US or Canada since the July 5, 1999 episode of WCW Monday Nitro which had more than 25,000 people inside of the (now demolished) Georgia Dome.
AEW Wednesday Night Dyanmite: Grand Slam comes from Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York
It's a non-title bout just to find out who is the best wrestler in the world... AEW World Champion Kenny Omega battles the (in-ring) debuting "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson
The AEW Women's World Championship will be on the line as Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. defends her title against Casino Battle Royale winner Ruby Soho
CM Punk will hype up his match for Friday's Rampage against Powerhouse Hobbs (not gonna lie... wouldn't be 100% shocked if Hobbs goes over Punk Friday)
Cody Rhodes tries to not get his head kicked off again by Malakai Black (please win Malakai... please)
Suzuki-gun's Minoru Suzuki & Lance Archer take on Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston. No flippy shite here.
FTR takes on Sting & Darby Allin
Brian Pillman, Jr. looks to make MJF pay for all the stuff he's said about Brian Pillman, Sr. (& Cincinnati) over the last few weeks... but those efforts will likely be in vein tonight.
Our Champion... & Good Doctor will be successful tonight. Tony just better not look at her funny tonight

Lol not with all the first salad tickets still available and the thousands available for secondary sales. And then you’ll have the scalpers around the venue. I’m sure Tiny will come out and announce 25k or some bullshite number.

I bought me a power rack, a bench, a barbell, and some weights so I don't go to the gym anymore.

I think Cody loses tonight and shouldn’t they have Punk go after the FTW title? He was ECW 2.0 afterall.
