Is gofundme reliable

My girlfriends car blew an engine and she’s been trying to get one from a dealership but doesn’t make enough money to qualify. She is a 2 time cancer survivor and can’t work because of health problems. she has been skipping her drs appointments and just really depressed. I can’t help her financially because im on disability and got to pay my bills. Im to the point of calling st. Vincent de Paul to see if I can get her on a list for a car. Any advice would be helpful
