Nobody quite knows why they fired him. He really was a hitting coach that got moved to pitching coach in 2020 so they could make room for Tulo. Here's the thing though...Texas team ERA in those years
2020 - 2.59
2021 - 2.93
2022 - 4.28
this year was easily the worst year but it was still good enough for #1 in the Big 12 and #22 in the country + injuries to an ace and their closer had a rough year (maybe it's his fault, idk). He feels like a scapegoat. Even if we didn't want him as a PC, I would bring him in as the RC and fielding coach

I would pair Allen with a pitching coach or at least someone that could help with the pitching side and defense. Jay and Wanaka can handle the hitting side.
