quote:I have a BGE and a Recteq. Having both, I can say the pellet grill has some very distinct advantages. I can add fuel during a long cook, effortlessly. There is almost zero ash to discard with a pellet grill. I can light my pellet grill from anywhere in the world. I can smoke with multitudes of different woods, depending on the meat I'm cooking, and no worry about adding more sticks.
I know you mentioned Traeger, but I am going to say consider the Big Green Egg with the EGG Genius. It gives you the same temperature controls of the pellet grills, and it lets you use the charcoal instead of the pellets.
There is nothing a Traeger can cook that I cannot cook as easy on my BGE.
The only thing I can think of, that the BGE has in it's favor, is in the case of a power outage.
