Scratched Up Netflix DVDs!

Actually, this applies to anything rented from a video store, library, etc.
Why the hell can't people view a DVD without scratching it to shreds? I mean, when I rent a DVD, it goes from box to DVD tray back to box.
Never fails. 8/10 times I rent a movie, it's going to malfunction during the damned climax.

I've had netflix for 4 or 5 years and have had a scratched DVD 3 times that I can remember. The bad thing is that the scratch always affects the last 10 mins of the movie.

the thing to do with the netflix ones is to purge them from netflix's system. you do this by scratching the shite out of it with a knife, cutting into the plastic. then you go online and return it for a replacement as scratched. then they have to throw it away.

I've had this happen two or three times so far.
I usually give DVDs a light buffing before playing them anyway. Just breathe some hot air on them, buff them with your shirt, it's usually fingerprints and not scratches that mess up the playback.
