This was in Mamou of all places.
Interesting.
We don't do a lot of residential but I know one of my coworkers did one with an elevator a couple years ago. Didn't look at that project much but I'm thinking it was a retrofit. I'll see if I can find information, OP.

My dad has one in his townhouse. He bought the place back in 2012, and the units were only a few years old. It is just between 2 floors, and has a normal looking door on the outside, which has to be closed before it operates, and the old metal sliding gate inside has to be latched into place as well. The doors have an autolock so that the door only opens on the floor that the car is on. Just safety features so that someone can't fall into the shaft or be in the shaft while it is operating. It even has a phone inside, so I guess if it malfunctioned you could call for help.
He's had a few issues with it over the years, nothing major but a control board went out one time, and another time it just needed some maintenance on the cables/rollers. Something got out of line and it wouldn't work until they were realigned.
When he moved in, he said he rarely ever used it. But now that he's getting older with some back problems, he uses it going up but rarely going down. Of course all his grandkids love riding in it, even though it takes about 20 seconds to just go up 10 feet.
