I guess we have to buy the book...
Seriously, though ... I have the same questions. As I appreciate the logic - bear with me - the idiots argue that police don’t prevent crime anyway (except they do at the very least by taking future offenses off the street). Thus, the argument goes you eliminate the police and redirect the funds into community based programs.
It’s utopian in the extreme. Would the world be a better place if cops weren’t needed? Of course! But municipalities aren’t throwing money away on policing just cause. In general cops exist as a need exists. A low crime rate community is going to hire less cops than one with a high crime rate.
And even if redirecting resources to community organizations would cure the crime problem- it won’t - you’re a generation away from not concurrently needing police. And if you close the prisons at the same time - what a sh@tshow!
