Doubtful. The manager is likely trying to not lose business, and is being honest.
Had dinner last night and similar situation. Our server literally left the job in hr middle of the shift. Manager came by to explain, as a way to help keep our business in the future.
Inability to hire staff over free state bennies is happening all around you. Open your eyes.
Pandemic is a useful excuse for employers. State UI benefits are 13 weeks. Even with the fed extension it only goes to 26...and we are 60 weeks into the pandemic
