I exaggerate but he's been on the cusp for a while. He was originally supposed to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in George Miller's canceled Justice League movie and he's headlined some films that were supposed to be blockbusters but turned out to be disappointments (The Lone Ranger and The Man From U.N.C.L.E being two examples).
He's been riding the indie circuit as of late.
